The Wild Apricot is listed as endangered on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List. The Wild Apricot has been credited as being the plant from which all other domestic varieties stem from, by being spread through the Silk Road. The Wild Apricot is native to China, Kazakhstan, Krygyzstan, and Uzbekistan, though populations are spread thin and continuing to decline. IUCN Red List cites: construction, harvesting for wood and fruit, as threats to the populations' survival.
