The Wild Apricot has been credited as being the plant from which all other domestic varieties stem from, by being spread through the Silk Road. The Wild Apricot is native to China, Kazakhstan, Krygyzstan, and Uzbekistan, though populations are spread thin and continuing to decline. IUCN Red List cites: construction, harvesting for wood and fruit, as threats to the populations' survival.
