Siderastrea glynni coral is listed as endangered by the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and critically endangered by the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List. In 1992 five colonies were discovered in Uraba Island, Panama Bay, but no discoveries have been made since. Although there is hope to introduce captive individuals to the wild, the coral still faces threats such as climate change, disease, pollution, and habitat degradation, which bring the coral closer to extinction.
