For a tree made popular by John Muir, and the Star Wars franchise (The Forest Moon of Endor), it is still listed as Endangered by the IUCN Red List. This coniferous being has a natural relationship with forest fires, with scorch marks being observed in tree rings dating back years, but with increased environmental stressors (such as: drought, ecosystem degradation, and increased frequency/intensity of the forest fires) the trees aren’t able to protect themselves as they normally would be able to.
